Neighbourhood clean up

On Tuesday, as part of Conservation Week, our class did a neighbourhood clean up.  We went along Freeland Ave, Playfair Rd and Richardson Road.  We were shocked at the amount of rubbish we found. There was lots and lots and lots of rubbish!

The most disgusting rubbish was a fish frame.  The most common rubbish was wet newspaper. The sneakiest was lolly wrappers, which are small and get hidden under long grass.

We have written to our neighbours and asked them to help keep our neighbourhood clean, tidy, healthy and beautiful.

Our Fabulous Fairy

Guess who visited us on Wednesday?  None other than the lovely Blue Reading Fairy.  She came to reward our awesome readers for doing lots and lots of reading in the holidays and returning their holiday reading logs.  19 people returned their reading logs and we were sure we were going to win the reading log competition.  Sadly for us, we came third because Rooms 1 and 10 had even more people returning their holiday reading logs.  We're definitely going to try and win this competition next time!  As our prize for coming third, we got to choose a book or a game.  We chose Junior Monopoly which Andrea the Reading Fairy has just ordered.  We can't wait for it to arrive.

Crazy Hair Day

On the last Friday of Term 3 we had Crazy Hair Day at school to celebrate earning more than 1,000 sunshines in the term.  Here are just a few of the pictures from the day.

Cross Country Coolness

At the end of last term we had our school cross country fundraiser.  We had been training hard all term with the rest of Rata team and Kauri team.  Everyone tried their hardest and we were so pleased with our results on the day.

  • Vika, Fifita and Sylvia were the first three Year 4 girls.
  • Faaid was the first Year 4 boy.
  • Ali, Razelle and Samuel were the first three Year 3 boys.

Ms Mey was a VERY proud teacher! :-)

Zoo fun

Last Thursday Rata team went to Auckland Zoo.  Our Zoo educator Laura showed us around and shared lots of interesting facts about the animals.  Did you know that when you are driving along the motorway at 100kms/hour, a cheetah can still go faster than you?  We had an awesome time looking at exotic animals.  Thanks to The Warehouse and Ritchies Transport for sponsoring our trip.
